Programs

Sea Turtle Conservation Program

A population of juvenile sea turtles feeds throughout the year in Akumal Bay. In addition, between the months of April and October, specimens of the Caretta caretta and Chelonia mydas species nest on its beaches, hatching from June to December to find their way to the sea.

We have trained hosts for the care and protection of nesting females, nests and hatchlings.

We inform our guests of the care and protection measures for turtles.

Waste Management

We implement good environmental practices in the separation of waste generated during the operation that can be reused, such as glass, plastic and cardboard, in order to minimize the amount and impact of waste generated, channeling it through recycling companies authorized by the authorities.

We implement necessary strategies to improve comprehensive waste management.

Socio-Cultural Environment

Our tourist destination is enriched by Mayan culture, traditions and archaeological sites, hence the interest in encouraging our guests to know and visit, thus increasing the opportunity to reactivate the economy of local communities and preserve Mayan culture.

We offer spaces for the exhibition and sale of local products and crafts, made by residents of the surrounding communities.
