The Caribbean is prone to tropical storms and hurricanes during the months of June to November. Official institutions and the Riviera Maya hotels association are very aware of these events and act accordingly in an organized and safe manner. Hurricanes or cyclones are caused by depressions that cause strong winds between 60 and 300 kilometers per hour making big waves in coastal areas. In case of a hurricane alert, through the advice of the authorities, evacuation to safe shelters prepared for these cases will take place.
The executive staff in coordination with the Hotel Management will inform guests of the procedures to be followed at different stages of evacuation.
When the eye of the hurricane passes over the affected region, a surprising calm and silence occurs for an indefinite period of time. After the passage of the centre or eye of the storm the winds begin to blow strongly in the opposite direction.
In case of a hurricane, you will receive all the information and guidelines given by the Civil Authorities to protect you and your belongings.
